Printing Guidelines
Allow material to adapt to room conditions for 24 hours before printing. It is recommended to handle the media with cotton gloves. Make sure that the media comes not into contact with grease, oil, silicon, and dirt to avoid printing defects. Load the media with care in the printers. Incorrect loading can cause skewing or creasing.
Use a take-up device to prevent wrinkling. It is recommended to calibrate the printer before printing and to make a test print. Print results will vary for different printer/ink combinations.
Canon media profiles include recommended settings for ink restrictions and printer parameters. Depending on fluctuations in environment, printer, ink, media and applications, printer parameters may have to be adjusted slightly, in order to obtain the best results. For high-speed production printing, using an external drying unit is recommended.
Application Guidelines
Allow the prints to dry properly before further processing. The VOC’s in solvent and latex inks must be fully evaporated. For this reason we recommend to let the prints dry at least 24 hours.
The printed surface must be protected if it is subject over a long time to humidity, abrasion, sweat or other mechanical influences. In this case the print must be protected with self-adhesive laminating films or appropriate liquid lamination products. IJM630 may be over-laminated with most cold and warm laminating materials. Cold pressure sensitive adhesives are recommended because they typically provide the most aggressive bonds. When the IJM630 base is over-laminated with heavy gauge laminates and either mounted to a board or encapsulated, overlap the image with a 6mm safe edge of laminate. This will seal the photo paper, preventing moisture absorption and paper splitting. Use laminates of equal gauge when encapsulating to prevent image curl. Over-laminating will also decrease the rate at which images fade.
